Andrew Hockton successfully defends consultant psychiatrist in landmark GMC case.

17/11/2009
On 17.11.2009 the Fitness to Practise panel of the GMC acceded to a half-time submission made by Andrew Hockton to throw out a longstanding case against a consultant psychiatrist, Dr Bazeley-White. This was the first case in which a consultant psychiatrist appeared before the GMC in relation to expert evidence on the issue of sexual abuse in disputed family proceedings. The ramifications of the case were therefore potentially highly significant and it was the subject of editorial comment in the BMJ. Andrew Hockton was instructed by Ian Barker and Nick Tennant from the Medical Defence Union.
