Gerry Boyle successfully defends doctor accused of dishonesty

16/07/2009

Gerry Boyle recently represented a young doctor who was accused of dishonesty for receiving and spending two salaries, one of which he was not entitled to. When asked to repay the money, a sum in excess of £35,000, the doctor was not in a position to do so having spent it. Whilst the doctor admitted that his actions in spending the money were inappropriate and irresponsible, it was not admitted that the doctor had been dishonest.

Following a hearing at the GMC the charges of dishonesty were dismissed and the doctor’s fitness to practise was found not to be impaired.

Gerry was instructed by Susan Trigg of Nabarro LLP, Sheffield
