13/03/2009

R (on the application of (1) DOUGLAS FRASER (2) KEVIN SHORT) (Claimants) v NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR HEALTH & CLINICAL EXCELLENCE (Defendant) & BB (BY HIS MOTHER & LITIGATION FRIEND JB) (Interested Party) [2009] EWHC 452 (Admin)

Conrad Hallin acted for the interested party in this Judicial Review of the clinical guideline, issued by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), recommending cognitive behavioural and graded exercise therapies as treatment for those with mild or moderate Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.  It was found that it did not overlook the risks involved in those therapies and that the recommendations and analysis of cost-effectiveness were not irrational.
