Edward was recently instructed to work with the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry in Manama, Bahrain. The Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry was established on 29 June 2011 and was tasked with investigating and reporting on the events that took place in Bahrain from February 2011. Specifically, the Commission was asked to determine whether the events of February and March 2011 (and thereafter) involved violations of international human rights law and norms, and to make the recommendations that it deemed appropriate. Edward was instructed to assist in drafting the report. The final Report of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry was published and submitted to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on 23 November 2011. The full report can be viewed at www.bici.org.bh. Edward has experience in advising on a wide range of international legal issues including International Criminal and Humanitarian Law. Edward has previously worked as a consultant on variety of legal projects at the United Nations Headquarters as well as in Sierra Leone, Uganda, Morocco and Kenya.
