Rupinder Sidhu has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of 22 offences of insider dealing.
Management consultant Sidhu and ex-hedge fund trader Anjam Ahmad were involved in insider dealing in 18 different UK and European listed shares between 15 May 2009 and 22 August 2009.
Sidhu was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court but was found not guilty on one other count of insider dealing.
The dealings were based on information Ahmad obtained from his job as risk manager with investment managers AKO Capital about forthcoming transactions by AKO in certain securities.
Sidhu made approximately £524,000 profit by placing spread bets in relation to the information.
