Christopher Johnston QC Acts for Family in Maternity Death Inquest

16/11/2011

A young mother and her baby died at Queen's Hospital in Romford in January. Midwives failed properly to monitor an induced labour and repeatedly rebuffed requests for help from her husband and brother.  Mrs Ali was suffering severe unrelenting pain due to hyperstimulation.  This ultimately caused a ruptured uterus which resulted in her death and the still birth of her baby.   The coroner recorded serious failings by the midwifery staff and returned a verdict of death by natural causes, contributed to by neglect.
