Health Professions Council Exonerates Leading Clinical Psychologist

16/09/2011

A former Clinical Psychologist and Senior practitioner with the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has been cleared of misconduct after being accused of procuring sexual favours in return for money.

The Clinical Psychologist faced a number of allegations which stemmed from the preparation of a court sentencing report.

The HPC dismissed one of the allegations following a submission of no case by Paul Spencer at the Close of the HPC’s evidence. The HPC dismissed the remaining allegations following closing speeches at the end of the hearing.

Had the HPC accepted the evidence, the Clinical Psychologists’  reputation would have been ruined and his name removed from the HPC register of healthcare professionals.
