Over £6 Million awarded to cosmetic surgery patient for botched facelift

25/05/2011

Michael Mylonas led by L West QC and instructed by McMillan Williams has just recovered more than £6 million for a woman entrepreneur who was permanently damaged by negligent cosmetic facial surgery.  This ground breaking award was made following a 10 day assessment of damages hearing and has been widely reported by the BBC and national newspapers.

Mrs Johnson was injured after her plastic surgeon, Le Roux Fourie, carried out surgery which the Claimant’s expert described as “experimental” in nature.  Mrs Johnson was an extremely successful entrepreneur and the Judge accepted that but for her disfiguring injuries she would probably have built up her consultancy business so that it was turning over more than £20m pa.

Proceedings were issued in 2007 and Mr Le Fourie denied liability until only weeks before the liability hearing was due to take place in July 2009.  The complexity of the financial claim meant that the assessment of damages hearing was delayed until early this year.
