James Berry appeared in the case of M in which the Court of Protection considered, for the first time, its powers to make non-contact injunctions against the media. This is thought to be the first time a court in England & Wales has issued an injunction specifically against Twitter and Facebook. Bridget Dolan will be appearing in the substantive hearing in July this year, when the Court will consider the novel legal issue of whether a declaration should be given permitting artificial nutrition and hydration to be withdrawn from a minimally conscious patient (who is not in PVS). James and Bridget are instructed by Beachcroft LLP.
