Disciplinary work: Richard has significant experience of medical and dental related disciplinary cases and has appeared in many FHSA appeals for patients, doctors, dentists, and opticians. He has appeared frequently before the GMC and GDC. Doctors represented by Richard include Professor Sir Roy Meadow, Dr. Dhasmana (Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry), and Dr. Brennan (Devon & Exeter NHS Trust Breast Screening Inquiry). He has acted in a number of appeals from the GMC to the High Court

 

Inquiries: Richard has acted in a number of significant medically related inquiries including the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry, and the Devon & Exeter NHS Trust breast screening inquiry.

Reported and other cases of Interest

 

Murch [2007-9]: Conduct case concerning MMR and autism

Professor Sir Roy Meadow: Richard acted on behalf of Professor Sir Roy Meadow in his high profile action against the GMC, led by Nicola Davies QC, also of 3 Serjeants’ Inn.

Dhasmana: Richard was instructed on behalf of Mr Dhasmana, one of the paediatric cardiologists involved in the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry. He was counsel to the Inquiry in this highly publicised action, which was the longest running GMC case to date.

Brennan: Richard represented Dr Brennan in the lengthy inquiry into breast screening at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Trust.
