Clinical Negligence

Inquests and Inquiries

Pravin gained significant exposure to inquests during his pupillage, including Article 2 inquests involving hospital trusts, the police and the prison service.

Mental Health/Best Interests

Pravin has a specific interest in mental health and mental capacity law and has worked in an array of mental health settings.  He is particularly aware of procedure regarding inpatient challenges to detention and also possesses a practical understanding of community and inpatient care.  He worked in the NHS when the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) was being implemented and developed a good understanding of what the MCA required from healthcare professionals.  Pravin has a particular research interest in section 4 (Best Interests) MCA.  He has also delivered seminars to doctors on the MCA, including its development from the common law and its ethical foundations.
